Description
Organic compound, terpenoid, cyclic ketone. Doesn't form water hydrates.
Can be bought in pharmacy (as "Camphor spirit").
Influence of temperature
Can sublimate at any temperature, but best results are achieved a ~40..60°C
Notes
Crystals can grow by both solution evaporation and by sublimation in closed vessel. Camphor is a main ingridient of observation tool called stormglass - solution of camphor in alcohol with addition of ammonium chloride and potassium nitrate.
For crystal storing use hermetic vessel with wadding moistened with such solution near the crystal. You can use such alternatives as vessel with vaseline or vegetable oil, organic non-hygroscopic solvent (kerosene or liquid paraffin). Also you can use acrylate polymer or another kinds of solidifying plastic.
